Vice-President of the Commission goes to Ukraine to talk about energy

Vice-President of the European Commission on Energy Union Maros Sefcovic 15 September will pay a working visit to Ukraine for meetings with Ukrainian government officials.

“The Vice President would like to discuss the progress of reforms in the energy sector, reforms of Naftogaz and gas transportation. Among his goals is finding ways of further development of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine in the context of the Energy Union”, – reported in the EU Mission in Ukraine.

Sefcovic will meet with Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, Deputy Prime Minister Gennady Zubko and Vladimir Kationam, energy Minister Igor Nasalik and Minister of foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin.

He also will consider reforms in the energy sector with members of the parliamentary Committee on energy and Chairman of the Board NAK “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Andrey KOBOLEV.

Ahead of the visit maroš Šefčovič said: “the European Union strongly supports the reform of Ukraine in the energy sector. They are key to the modernization of the economy. They provide benefits to both consumers and businesses. I’m waiting for discussions with the Ukrainian leadership about our next steps. We need to use the full potential of Ukraine in the field of energy efficiency, energy and gas transportation”.
