The activity of the female brain is higher than men’s, found out the US physicians. The results of the study were published in the journal of Alzheimer, according to gazeta.ru.
The researchers analyzed more than 46 thousand results single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and found that in women, the activity of many brain regions is much higher than men.
The largest difference in activity was observed in the prefrontal cortex, responsible for decision-making, volitional control and regulation of social behaviour and the work of the limbic system involved in the regulation of emotion, sleep, memory, functions of internal organs.

Analyzed were the brains of both healthy people and those suffering from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder and injuries of the brain. Only the researchers studied 128 regions of the brain during the execution of the volunteers specific tasks and at rest.
Understanding differences in brain functioning of men and women is essential as the floor depends on the tendency to certain diseases of the brain, the researchers note. Women are much more likely to have Alzheimer’s disease, depression and anxiety disorders, and men with behavior disorders.
