Ukraine welcomes the approval by the Senate of the Netherlands of the draft law on the entry into force of the act of July 8, 2015 on approval of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, signed in Brussels on 21 March and 27 June 2014, said in comments of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“Convincing the majority that supported the bill, which again proved that the Netherlands is our friend and partner on the path to political Association and economic integration with the European Union. We are grateful to our colleagues from the Netherlands and other countries and institutions of the EU, which in the past year and a half has formed a solid Foundation to support the Agreement in Dutch society and official circles,” – said in comments.
The foreign Ministry expressed hope for a speedy completion of all necessary internal procedures in the Netherlands and the speedy ratification of the Agreement by the European community for atomic energy and the Council of the EU.
“Remembering the price paid by the Ukrainians for the Association Agreement, ensuring its full-fledged entry into force is our common moral obligation. This Agreement is a key pointer to the implementation in Ukraine of the system of political and socio-economic reforms based on best European standards aimed at improving the standard of living of Ukrainians. Together we overcame all the obstacles to the ratification of the Agreement, together will provide a full and speedy entry into effect and effective implementation”, – stressed the Minister.
As reported, the lower chamber of the Dutch Parliament (House of representatives) 23 Feb officially confirmed the ratification of the Association Agreement with Ukraine. May 30, the Upper chamber of the Dutch Parliament (the Senate) supported the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
The head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker expressed hope that the ratification process will be completed before the summit Ukraine-EU, scheduled for July 13.
