The Verkhovna Rada Committee on financial policy and banking sent a letter to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with an appeal to speed up the submission of candidates for the post of Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
The decision made by the members of the relevant Committee during a meeting on Tuesday, may 23.
As noted during the meeting, the Chairman of the Finance Committee Serhiy Rybalka, the situation in the financial system of Ukraine “remains extremely difficult”.
“We have no right to delay the implementation of reforms. As soon as possible to restore confidence in the banking system and to create conditions for affordable lending to small and medium business”, – said the head of the Committee.
According to him, the financial Committee of the Parliament insists on the need for a comprehensive discussion of the new candidates for the post of Chairman of the National Bank.
“It’s important for us to know what he sees the main tasks of the Central Bank in economic development of Ukraine”, – said Fishing.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada freed Valeria Gontareva as head of the National Bank of Ukraine only after we find her successor, said earlier the head of the BPP Arthur Gerasimov.
We will remind, on may 10 was the last working day of Valeria Gontareva as head of the National Bank of Ukraine – she was gone for a long vacation, until it will dismiss the Supreme Rada. Before Gontareva said that fulfilled all the tasks set before them.
According to the Constitution, the head of the NBU is appointed by the Verkhovna Rada on representation of the President for a period of 7 years. Gontareva holds the position of head of the NBU almost 3 years.
Gontareva has previously stated that he had discussed possible candidates for the post of head of the NBU Poroshenko in January.
