First Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim pristayko said that we are not talking about direct U.S. participation in the talks in the Normandy format (Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia) on the peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas, but the American side insists on the implementation by Russia of the Minsk agreements.
“They (the American side. – Ed.) said, support the efforts of German and French colleagues, but not become part of the Normandy format – the four countries. Not all have to become part of the “Norman format”, there are different formats that allow us to solve our issues,” said Pristayko.
He stressed the importance of participation in the negotiation process Russia. “If in the best format with the Americans, not Russia, it’s not going to matter to solve our problems,” – said the Deputy Minister.
Pristayko also stressed that the us side actively insists on the implementation by Russia of its obligations under the Minsk agreements.
“Despite the fact that the us is actively looking for opportunities to get closer to Russia in other matters, it was stated very clearly that the sanctions that exist now in relation to Russia will not be lifted until the decision – Russia must fulfill its obligations under the Minsk agreements”, – said Pristayko.
Earlier it was reported that the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin during his visit to Washington and meetings with US President Donald trump and Vice-President Mike Pence discussed with the American side , the opportunity of bringing the United States to resolve the situation in the Donbass, including in the Normandy format.
