Lukashenko offered to help Ukraine biosphere reserve in the Chernobyl

Belarusians already have the experience of creating a biosphere reserve on its territory near the site of the industrial disaster and is ready to offer assistance in its creation in Chernobyl. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a joint with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko a speech in Chernobyl, reports 112.ua.

He noted that Ukraine could count on the support of Belarus in this matter.

“Ukraine is developing a new strategy the consequences of this terrible disaster, plans to establish a radioecological biosphere reserve in the Chernobyl zone. We did it for a long time and you, Peter, you can count on our work together using the experience of the Polesskiy reserve is located next to this tragic place,” – said Lukashenko.

According to him, Ukraine and Belarus does not fully use the potential of cooperation between countries and should be strengthened.

“We successfully cooperate within the framework of the Chernobyl projects and international organizations. However, the potential of cooperation between our countries is not used in full. I am sure that our environmentalists, doctors who work on elimination of accident consequences and protection of health people can and must do more,” added the President of Belarus.

In turn, the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said that the time has come to take on Ukraine for the restoration of the exclusion zone.
