From the Crimea to Jordan: game on “arm-twisting”

An official source in the Directorate of the Jordanian Armed forces announced that “last Friday, March 3, at dawn in the provinces of Irbid and Gor al-Safi fell the fragments of the missiles. This happened as a result of Israeli rockets intercept missiles fired from Syria, according to some Israeli positions”. In this regard, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that “the RAID on Syria was intended to destroy the weapons supplied to Hezbollah”. While on the question of the Syrian response to this event, the Minister of construction of Israel Yoav GALANT (Yoav Galant, a former commander of the Southern military district of Israel and the military Secretary to the Prime Minister — approx. ed.) believes that “Russia covers Syria, and the Syrian response to the Israeli raids seem to be quite “dangerous”. The successes achieved by the Syrian army in al-Maidan and Russian support gives the army a sense of confidence and security.”

The Russian leadership does not hesitate to support its allies in the East, the latest high-tech weapons, wanting to twist the arms of the United States by threatening their Eastern partners, in particular, Israel. Thus, the practice used various methods of pressure on US to push the administration of this country to recede from its position on the Crimea.

Suddenly events began to develop in a similar way after the United States on Thursday 16 March 2017 again condemned the Russian occupation of the Crimea, from Moscow demanding its immediate cessation. The official representative of US state Department mark Toner (Toner Mark) in his speech noted that “Crimea is part of Ukraine,” adding: “the United States has repeatedly condemned the Russian occupation of Crimea and call for its immediate end”.

According to the U.S. Department of state, “the United States does not recognize the referendum on joining Russia held in Crimea on 16 March 2014 on the basis of which Moscow declared the annexation of the Peninsula.”

The policy of escalation against Russia, adopted by the administration of U.S. President Donald trump, clearly visible through the conflict in Syria.

The announcement General of the Central command of the U.S. armed forces Joseph Votel (Joseph Votel) that “his forces will remain in Syria for a long time to ensure the safety, stability and to help the Syrians in a peaceful transfer of power.” In his statement Thursday, March 9 he reported that “the situation requires us forces to remain and does not imply withdrawal from Syria after the elimination of ISIS (banned in Russia — approx.ed.)”. In this regard, the U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson confirmed, answering a journalist’s question that “Washington does not exclude the possibility of supply of weapons to countries-allies and equipping them with nuclear weapons to deter any possible aggression.”

Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu said that “his country would develop a military fleet, which implies the emergence of more modern ships with great service life, to improve their ability to move troops and equipment to distant places such as Syria.” During the meeting of the defence Ministry Board in Moscow, Shoigu said that “Russia will not abandon the support of allies in the region, while there are those who threaten the security of Russia”.

The incident with the missile launch was a message to Israel, and after him and the United States. Its essence lies in the fact that today the struggle of Hezbollah and opposing countries is no longer confined to the struggle between the two sides — America and Russia. The conflict came to a new, more difficult stage, as it happened with the Crimea Peninsula.

Finally, U.S.-Russian confrontation in Europe responds to the escalation of the conflict in Syria, where Russia intends to destroy American interests in the region and threatens its allies, primarily Israel.

It threatens to exacerbate the situation in Syria, which will be the mailbox to which the conflicting parties will seek to resolve international disputes. Thus, the war will last as long as the state will not achieve their desired goals. In any case, analyzing what is happening in Syria, we can conclude that the blood will flow for a very long time, and maybe the fire will spread to neighbouring countries, particularly Lebanon and Jordan.
