Railway transport enterprises of Ukraine in January-February 2017 increased freight compared to the same period in 2016 by 9% to 53.8 million tons, and passenger transportation (including transportation city train in Kiev) has increased slightly – by 0.5%, to 23.7 million people. According to the State statistics service (gosstat).
According to the report, rail transport freight turnover for the accounting period has increased in comparison with January-February last year, 13.8% to 31.2 billion tons/km and passenger traffic increased by 5.1% to 3.6 billion pass./km.
In January-February this year, the Railways of the country were transported in domestic traffic and export 43.8 million tons of cargo, which is 6.7% more than in the same period in 2016.
According to the state statistics, for the period of transportation of ferrous scrap increased by 17.7%, grain and grinding products – by 43%, oil and oil products – by 53.6%, construction materials – by 60.7%.
The transportation of timber cargo decreased by 43.8%, coke – by 17.8%, cement – by 12.9%, chemical and mineral fertilizers – by 12.2%, ferrous metals – by 6.6%, coal – by 5.9%, iron and manganese ore – by 3.5%.
We will remind, the enterprises of railway transport of Ukraine in 2016 has reduced the carriage of goods by comparison with 2015 by 1.7% to 344,1 million tons, and passenger transportation (including transportation city train in Kiev) is maintained at the level of 2015 – 389,5 million people.
