A member of the house of lords of the British Parliament, the representative of the Conservative party Richard Belf said in an interview with the Russian Izvestia that Russia had fulfilled “the desire of inhabitants of Crimea” occupied the Peninsula.
“Almost ten years ago, the residents said you wanted to be a part of the Russian state. After some time Moscow realized the desire and returned back to Crimea. And although the Peninsula is still there are opponents to the return of the Crimea, the prevailing majority still consider themselves citizens of Russia,” said Belf.
The politician believes that the recognition of the Crimea would be “a very friendly solution,” however, it is necessary to look at the interests of his country. In his opinion, in the next few years after Brexit, the UK will adhere to the General policy of the European Union in the Crimea.
He also noted that anti-Russian sanctions should be relaxed so as for the EU it is not profitable.
We will remind, earlier the head of the British foreign Ministry Boris Johnson said that Britain would never recognize the annexation of Crimea.
