The people’s Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko could not waive parliamentary immunity, so her statement is no more than public relations. This was stated on air of TV channel “112 Ukraine” people’s Deputy, the adviser to the interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko, reports “GORDON”.
He recalled that to remove the immunity of Deputy can be through the appeal of the public Prosecutor to the Parliament.
“Savchenko’s statement – no more than public relations. By law, parliamentary immunity can only be removed if the attorney General refers to BP with the requirement to remove parliamentary immunity for involvement of the Deputy to criminal responsibility”, – said Gerashchenko.
In addition, he noted that the deputies can take over the removal of parliamentary immunity in the last half of the eighth convocation, and the initiator of the appeal to be made by the President of Ukraine.
As reported yesterday, Hope Savchenko said that refuses parliamentary immunity and encouraged to follow her example of people’s deputies, judges and the President.
In turn, the Procedural Committee stated that Nadezhda Savchenko does not legally have the right to waive parliamentary immunity and Parliament may not consider such requests from members.
