Germany wants to continue to help Ukraine in word and deed on a large scale. This was stated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Berlin.
“Our countries have established close cooperation – I would even say friendship. Over the last 2.5 years, this friendship became even stronger. We want to continue this cooperation in an atmosphere of trust. We want to help Ukraine by word and deed in a broad scale,” she said.
Merkel welcomed the reforms now taking place in Ukraine. As noted by the Chancellor, it is now difficult restrictions from the IMF, Ukraine has fulfilled all the conditions. It also welcomed steps towards economic reform and a comprehensive reform of the entire state.
“We will provide assistance to councils. And today we also will discuss a question of Association. We are pleased that despite these difficult times, and reform, the country has economic growth,” said Merkel.
According to the leader of Germany, in Ukraine to date there are 1200 companies with German capital. Last autumn, Kyiv and Berlin established a joint chamber of Commerce and industry. German exports to Ukraine in the first three quarters of 2016 year grew by nearly 17%.
