The IMF may soon return to the “Ukrainian question”

The mission of the International monetary Fund (IMF) in the coming weeks to recommend to the Board of Directors of the Fund to conduct the third review of the EFF. About this informed the official representative of the Fund Jerry rice on Thursday.

“I have her yet (the exact date of the meeting of the Board of Directors – Ed.) but we expect that it will be soon, in the coming weeks. If we assume that all the remaining issues (the implementation of the requirements of MF by the Ukrainian authorities – Ed.) soon will be resolved, the proposal to complete the next revision of the program can be presented to the IMF Board in the coming weeks,” he said during the traditional press-briefing in Washington.

While rice noted the significant progress of Ukraine in recent months to implement the necessary for completion of the third revision of the reform program.

Among them he named the adoption of the relevant goals of the EFF state budget for 2017, launch the system of compulsory Declaration of income of senior officials, decisive action to ensure financial stability in the country.

According to the representative of the IMF mission, the Fund currently continues to communicate with the Ukrainian authorities on outstanding issues, including those relating to the outcome of the reform amerasekera and final agreement of a timetable for further actions under the Memorandum of cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF.

Recall, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine expects that the size of the fourth tranche of the IMF under the program of expanded financing will amount to 1 billion U.S. dollars. The Ukrainian authorities expect to receive the fourth tranche of the IMF in February.

As reported, Ukraine and the IMF signed a Memorandum of economic and financial policies which the country should undertake in the framework of the EFF in March 2015. Four-year programme of the eff stipulates that Ukraine is to receive credits from the IMF for a total amount of 17.5 billion dollars.

In September 2016, the IMF approved the granting Ukraine of the 3rd tranche of $ 1 billion.

In the updated Memorandum of cooperation, Ukraine has undertaken before the IMF to carry out land reform and to adopt a law on the gradual increase in the retirement age of citizens.

In early October, the Council extended the moratorium on alienation of agricultural land for a period of 1 year to 1 January 2018.

Earlier, the national Bank was expecting the next tranche of the IMF in the amount of 1.3 billion dollars by the end of 2016.

Earlier, the head of national Bank Valeria Gontareva said that the successful nationalization of “PrivatBank” and the adoption of the budget for 2017 is expected of Ukraine the fourth tranche of the International monetary Fund (IMF) under eff EFF in January 2017.
