PHOTOFACT. Latvia issued a coin translucent

The Bank of Latvia issued a collector coin translucent. Its denomination is 5 Euro, but it will be sold for 85 euros.

The coin consists of three parts. Outside — a silver ring; in the middle — transparent ceramics (spinel) brand Perlucor; in the centre is a model of the Earth in sterling silver.

The idea of “Earth” won the competition for the most innovative coin of the Euro, which in 2015 held the Bank of Latvia.

Translucent circulation coins — five thousand copies. Spinel is characterized by high chemical and thermal stability. Material Perlucor used in medicine, optics (including lasers) and implemented in military technology as bullet-proof glass.
