Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy has registered a bill that proposes that the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, its committees and commissions are conducted exclusively in the state language.
The corresponding bill No. 6059 from 08.02.2017 was unveiled on the Parliament website.
As noted in the explanatory note, the document is aimed at maximum respect for the constitutional status of the state language in exercising legislative power.
“The translation of speeches of foreign heads of States, heads of parliaments of foreign States, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign States, officials of foreign States and officials of international organizations on the state language, if necessary, provides the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada”, – the document says.
The author notes that the current legislation of Ukraine obliges the state to use Ukrainian as the language of official communication officials and officers in the performance of their official duties, work and records of public authorities and local self-government.
“Therefore, despite the ongoing constitutional proceedings on the constitutionality of the law of Ukraine “On principles of state language policy”, this bill is designed and served to ensure compliance with the exercise of their functions by the Verkhovna Rada and its bodies of those constitutional provisions are directly related to the activities of the legislative body of state power”, – stated in the document.
As reported the UNIAN, today during the morning session of the Verkhovna Rada deputies from “opposition bloc” had an argument regarding their statements on Russian language Paruby, who encouraged them to speak in the national language.
In the “opposition bloc” believe that the speaker has the right to speak in the language he speaks. It Parubiy noted that with all due respect to all national minorities, it is impossible to imagine that in the Parliament of any European power were not in the state language.
Also the Chairman of BP added that if someone from deputies need a translation, you need to inform, and it will be provided.
