During meetings in the United States of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with American politicians had not raised the question of surrender of Ukraine’s interests, in particular the rejection of the Crimea and the Donbass. About this he wrote in Facebook Deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko on the visit of the Ukrainian President to Washington.
According to her, the Ukrainian President raised the issue of guarantees of Ukraine under the Budapest Memorandum on meetings in the United States.
“In meetings with Vice President Pence, Secretary of state Tillerson, the Minister of defense, the legendary General Mattis (and these people today are the Ukrainian question in the new administration). Also at the meeting with speaker of the house Ryan Poroshenko reminded the us partners that Ukraine at the time, renounced the world’s fourth largest nuclear Arsenal and expects the international partners safeguards the territorial integrity and security”, – wrote Gerashchenko.
She also noted that during his meetings with us politicians had not discussed the issue of changes in the “Normandy” or “Minsk” formats.
“No (not discussed. – Ed.). Under the Minsk agreement is signed by Putin, he must perform them is a key. But for all the meetings the sides discussed the further coordination of efforts in the framework of the “Minsk process”, “Normandy format” and a more active involvement of the United States to the peace process in the Donbass. In addition, Gerashchenko said that at the meeting Poroshenko with representatives of the American authorities had not discussed the question of delivery of Donbass and Crimea.
“All the meetings was the position of the American side that the sanctions against Russia should continue until the full restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the return of the Crimea and the Donbass. It is remarkable that in day of visit of the President of the United States was expanded U.S. sanctions against Russia”, – said the politician.
Recall, 20 June Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Donald trump at the White house, during which the leaders discussed issues of Donbass, anti-Russian sanctions and the Ukrainian President even sent a letter to Ukrainian hostages.
