Press Secretary of the White house Sean Spicer said Friday that he shares the position of U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley on the issue of anti-Russian sanctions.
“I think the Ambassador Haley is a very clearly expressed our concerns about the Russian occupation of Crimea,” said Spicer, responding to a reporter’s question about whether the new administration to maintain the sanctions that exist against Russia or something to expand them. However, he said nothing about the future plans of the US administration concerning sanctions against the Russian Federation.
A spokesman for the White house reiterated that the decision, published yesterday by the U.S. Treasury on some of the changes made to the restrictive measures in respect of the FSB, not the easing of sanctions, but only “proper clarification”.
The day before, speaking in the UN security Council, Haley said: “Our sanctions in respect of Crimea will be in effect until Russia will regain control over the Peninsula to Ukraine.”
