For the construction of roads in Ukraine in 2017 will be allocated UAH 16 billion – Poroshenko

More than 16 billion UAH in the current year will be spent on road construction in Ukraine. This was during a working trip to Sumy region, said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“We are confident that over 16 billion UAH only this year in Ukraine will be spent on road construction, where it’s never been done. That people feel that we have the resources to do this, despite the fact that we are forced to sharply increase funding for defence and security”, – said Poroshenko.

According to him, if in previous years the direction of means of over-fulfillment of revenues from customs duties on the construction of roads was a privilege of only a few areas, in 2017, a decision on the dissemination of such practices throughout Ukraine.

Poroshenko noted that during the first 5 months of the current year to the budget of the Sumy region received more than 300 million UAH for the construction of roads within the framework of this experiment.

“I hope that tomorrow will be taken of changes in the budget, which will further enhance investment potential, expand the experiment started by my law, when exceeding the receipts from customs, as a consequence of the fight against corruption, will be directed on building of Ukrainian roads”, – said the head of state

According to the President, in the decentralization process, the budgets of constituent entities of local self-government has grown 7 times and “finally, cities and towns had money”.

“This clearly demonstrates that the deshadowing processes and the fight against corruption – a process absolutely irreversible,” – said Poroshenko.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said that the Cabinet will require criminal liability for substandard repair of roads.
