The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a telephone conversation coordinated positions in the context of preparations for the summit “Big twenty” (G20) in Hamburg, in particular, the leaders of Germany and France with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As informs on Wednesday the press service of the Ukrainian President, the sides discussed the situation in the Donbas and coordinated position on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“Angela Merkel has assured Petro Poroshenko, during a meeting about the fate of Ukraine without Ukraine will not be solved”, – stated in the message.
The parties emphasized the priority of meeting key requirements for security of the Minsk agreements and expressed concern because of the continuous violation by the Russian militants of the ceasefire.
“Petro Poroshenko emphasized the importance of liberation of the Ukrainian hostages who are in captivity of militants and in Russia”, – stated in the message.
During the conversation, concern was expressed due to the ongoing threats to the security of observers of the Special monitoring mission of the OSCE from the Russian militants, and attempts to severely restrict the activities of the mission in the Donbass.
“Angela Merkel also thanked the President of Ukraine for participation in the European the farewell ceremony for former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in Strasbourg,” – said in the message.
