The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the Law “On amendments to section V “Final provisions” law of Ukraine “On state awards of Ukraine”. The law was adopted by Parliament on 13 April 2017, the press service of the presidential Administration.
“Ukraine is grateful and will always remember the feat of the Heavenly hundred Heroes who sacrificed their most valuable – their lives. Gave her not only the freedom of our country, but also to preserve democracy and freedom throughout Europe and worldwide”, – said the President. Petro Poroshenko stressed that in this struggle side by side with Ukrainians stood and citizens of other countries.
The head of state added that because of their sacrifice, we live and we have a unique chance to change the country for the better, and not have to miss it. “A great feat of the Heavenly hundred went consciously and without any fear, just as today Ukrainian Heroes protecting our country from Russian aggression in the Donbas. They defend the right of Ukraine to be truly independent, successful European country”, – said Poroshenko.
The relevant Law stipulates that the title of Hero of Ukraine as an exception may be posthumously awarded to a foreigner, was awarded the order of the Heavenly hundred Heroes, for an outstanding heroic act associated with defending constitutional principles of democracy, rights and freedoms of man during the Revolution Dignity (November 2013 – February 2014).
The document comes into force on the day following the day of its publication.
The head of state initiated the relevant amendments to the legislation according to the results of meeting with families of Heroes of Heaven hundreds, which took place on 20 February this year. The President awarded the order of Heroes Heavenly hundreds three foreigners – citizens of Belarus Mikhail Zhiznevsky, Georgia – Zurab Khurtsia and David Kipiani, who died during the Revolution Dignity.
