The US has urged the Russian Federation to immediately end its occupation of Crimea and to regain control of the Peninsula to Ukraine. This is stated in the message of Embassy of the USA in Ukraine, transfers “112 Ukraine”.
“Three years ago, Russia invaded and occupied Crimea. Then in Russia was organized by an illegitimate referendum in which the residents of Crimea were forced to vote, and heavily armed foreign forces occupied their land. The US does not recognize Russia’s “referendum” on March 16, 2014, nor its attempted annexation of Crimea and its continued violation of international law. Crimea is part of Ukraine. The United States reiterates its condemnation of the Russian occupation of Crimea and call for its immediate end. Our sanctions associated with the Crimea, will remain in force until Russia will regain control over the Peninsula to Ukraine”, – stated in the message.
Yesterday, acting official representative of US state Department mark Toner confirmed again the position of the United States that do not recognize the results of the “referendum” in Crimea, 2014 year ago and accused the Russian authorities of violating the rights of the residents.
“In Russia organized illegitimate referendum in which the residents of Crimea were forced to vote, and heavily armed foreign forces occupied their lands,” said the spokesman.
