All persons involved in the case of “letters to Yanukovych with a request to use Russian forces in Ukraine” are at risk, especially the fugitive himself Viktor Yanukovych. This “Today” said political consultant Taras Berezovets, commenting on the statement by the press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov that “no letter from Yanukovych in the presidential administration of the Russian Federation have been reported.”
“They cover their tracks, because the story of the letter Yanukovych on March 1, a copy of which Yury Lutsenko received in the Secretariat of the UN security Council, will have long-lasting consequences. Ukraine has filed lawsuits in international courts and this letter is yet more evidence of Russian military aggression against Ukraine. This letter served as the legal justification for the decision of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation on the introduction of troops to Ukraine at the same time March 1, 2014. Therefore, Yulia Ladygina, Russian journalist, wrote then that Vitaly Churkin (the late Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the UN – Ed.) died after an emotional conversation with Putin. It is assumed that the reason for the conversation was the letter of 1 March. And it is quite obvious that Churkin was asked to testify because he was a key witness,” – said Taras Berezovets.
The analyst added that he’s far from conspiracy and believes that no one Churkin didn’t. “But he just emotionally could not stand the pressure, had fallen on him. So they now smooth out the information and mention of this letter and, of course, will be to abandon it”, – said Berezovets.
On the question of whether Victor Yanukovych to be the next on the tough talk with Putin on this letter, the consultant replied: “I don’t want to engage in conspiracy theories, but it is clear that all defendants in the case are at risk. Yanukovych especially since his signature is under that letter.”
We will remind, political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko believes that Russia denies the existence of letters from the fugitive Viktor Yanukovych with a request to send troops to Ukraine, as it destroyed the entire Russian-propaganda scheme about the “junta” and “coup”.
According to Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko, the Prosecutor General received a letter from the General Prosecutor’s office of Russia, which refuted the receipt of the letter from Yanukovych about the deployment of Russian troops in Ukraine. “Received a letter from the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. Write that neither the presidential administration nor the Federation Council had not received any letter from Yanukovych about the entry of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, – wrote the head of the GPU in your Facebook, attaching a copy of the letter to the post. But what to do with the performance Churkin in the UN security Council about this letter? What to do with a video interview of Yanukovych, which confirms that they wrote this letter?”.
At a press conference in Rostov-on-don in November 2016 Yanukovych confirmed the fact of appeal to Vladimir Putin about Russian troops in Ukraine and called it an emotional decision. In March 2014 the UN security Council meeting Churkin said that Yanukovych has written to Russian President a written petition for the entry of Russian armed forces to protect the population of Ukraine.
March 1, 2014 the Federation Council gave its consent to the President of the Russian Federation to use Russian armed forces in Ukraine “to normalize the socio-political situation in the country.” Later the decision was canceled by the Parliament.
