In Ukraine on Sunday, March 5, in accordance with schedule (balance sheet constraint) was disconnected from the grid unit 2 of Zaporizhzhya NPP. At the moment, is the transfer of the reactor facility to a state of “hot stop”.

“As of March 5 at the Zaporizhzhya NPP in the work are the 4 units. Comments on the operation of the main equipment of operating power units and staff there. The total capacity of the generators is 3420 MW”, – stated in the message.
It is noted that the radiation background in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and in the sanitary protection zone (the area around the nuclear power plant radius 2.5 km) is 8-12 micro-roentgen per hour. This corresponds to natural radiation background.
Recall that the Zaporizhzhya NPP is the largest energy facility in Ukraine and Europe. Here installed with the capacity of 6 thousand MW. At this plant are operated by 6 units with a capacity of 1 million kW each. Since 1984, the contribution of Zaporizhzhya NPP in the energy sector of the country has increased from 2% to 22%.
Note that in recent years the station produces about 50% of all electricity produced nuclear power plants in Ukraine and more than 22% of the total electricity generation in the country.
