The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine has sent Belarus a note in connection with the detention in Minsk, Ukrainian writer Serhiy Zhadan. This was announced by first Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko.
“Just spoke with a representative of our Embassy in Belarus Valery Zhigunov. He confirmed that Sergei Zhadan was detained in Minsk that he spent the night in the Leninsky district police Department in Minsk. The Embassy only found out about it because, unfortunately, the family had not appealed to him before, and Belarusians did not give this information on detention of the citizen of Ukraine, which, of course, is a violation,” wrote Gerashchenko on his page in Facebook.
According to her, the foreign Ministry gave instructions to the Embassy staff accompanied the writer to the airport and before crossing the border.
“The Embassy and the foreign Ministry of Ukraine has already prepared a note about this. It’s really a shame, and it is time to firmly put the question to Minsk on the inadmissibility of actions of the FSB, which in such a shameful manner, by forming a joint black list is trying to worsen our Belarusians bilateral relations… It is also one of the objectives is the worsening of relations between Minsk and Kiev. I think that the Ukrainian party should raise the issue of inadmissibility of such lists, when the Russian Federation and the FSB decides who of the Ukrainians has the right to visit Belarus”, – said Gerashchenko.
As reported, the Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan was detained in the capital of Belarus and interrogated about “terrorism”.
