The President of Moldova Igor Dodon in favor of granting a special status for the unrecognized Transnistria. About this he announced on his page in Facebook after talks with OSCE Chairman Sebastian Kurtz, – UNIAN reports.
“The Transnistrian conflict settlement process must culminate in the reintegration of Moldova and Transnistria with a special status of the latter within the country,” he said.
He also expressed the hope that Kurtz will have an impact on the development of the negotiation process on Transnistrian conflict settlement.
Earlier, Igor Dodon said that Moldova should not be and eventually there will be no foreign troops.
Regarding a political solution to the Transnistrian conflict, the head of Moldova underlined that the final decision will be taken by the people. “In the discussions we will come up with an acceptable solution, and to leave him to the people, ask him through a referendum. Say Yes – well, no – no. The last word is for citizens of Moldova”, said Dodon.
