Russian-occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia can get a “bezviz” with the EU

The Georgian government will offer the Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia of the visa-free advantages with the EU, which needs to Georgia in the near future. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze, reports Georgia Today.

He congratulated the Georgian people with a positive European Parliament vote on visa-free regime with Georgia.

“We congratulate our citizens on this day. Our progress towards integration with the EU cannot be achieved if we did not have strong support from our community and public authorities,” – said Janelidze.

Janelidze also noted that the Georgian government will offer the advantages of visa liberalization for residents of the occupied regions of Georgia – Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

As it became known, the European Parliament voted for granting the visa-free regime with the EU for Georgia. Voted “for” 553 of the Deputy, against 66, abstentions – 22 MEP.

Note that now the next step is a formal decision by the European Council.
