The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the government to take immediate steps to solve the problem of garbage removal from the city now and in the long term, reports the press service of the head of state.
The situation in Lviv was one of the topics of the working meeting of the President with Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman.
“Scavenge – the prerogative of local authorities, – said the President. But when it can not within its competence to solve the issue when its own economic helplessness wrapped in a political matter, and the security of citizens is threatened by environmental disaster, we need to help the citizens. And city that genuinely love tens of millions of Ukrainians, and millions of foreign tourists”.
In a press-service of the President added that tomorrow in Lviv with a working visit to Vladimir Groisman.
Yesterday it became known that the garbage from the city in seven days plan to take on the polygons of the region. Also yesterday, the city’s locals protested, blocking roads to demand the solution of a “garbage problem.”
We will remind, the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy stated that the debris situation in Lviv complex, more than 20% of container is full. In this regard, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman has instructed the Chairman of the Lviv regional state administration Oleg Sinyutka to hold a meeting of the Commission on emergency situations and find a solution to ensure the disposal of garbage. As of 19:00 on Thursday in Lviv removed 137 container sites solid waste, accounting for 35% of the total number clogged.
