The national Bank of Ukraine (NBU) plans to introduce a bill denominated in UAH 1,000, however, all information classified. This was stated by Deputy head of the NBU Dmitry Sologub in an interview “LB.ua”.
“Say, who [is] depicted [on the banknote of 1000 UAH], it is impossible. Because all of the documents on this bill to bring the red folder “top secret”. But I think the intrigue we hold for long,” said Sologub.
At the same time, he noted that the calculations of the national Bank showed the optimality of introducing such a large bill.
“In General, if you look at the system with cuts, there is an optimum point. If you’re doing a really big bill, it stimulates the shadow economy. As example, say that € 500 be removed, because it is the favorite denomination of counterfeiters or drug dealers. And our calculations showed that in terms of how a change in monetary base change in the price level in the country, optimally still, the introduction of this bill,” said Sologub.
Earlier in mass media there was information that the banknote is depicted the writer Panteleimon Kulish, but in NBU the rumors denied. “I can tell you that there is no Panteleimon, and the rest is let’s keep in secret”, — said the head of the NBU Valery Gontareva.
