Troops of the southern military district should be strengthened in connection with the situation in the South-East of Ukraine and activity of international terrorist groups in the North Caucasus, said at the Board meeting of the Ministry of defense defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“It is important to note that the military-political situation in the South-Western strategic direction remains unstable. The negative impact it is having primarily the situation in the South-East of Ukraine and activity of international terrorist organizations and groups in the North Caucasus”, – said the Minister.
“In these circumstances, it is necessary to continue work to improve the fighting strength of the troops of the district, the recruitment of contract servicemen, equipping troops with new weapons and military equipment, as well as the development of military infrastructure,” he added.
Shoigu demanded to ensure the safety of flights of aircraft of Armed forces of the Russian Federation to increase the mobility of troops and to provide reliable cover from air attack.
As you know, in 50 km from the border with Ukraine in Rostov region of the Russian Federation is formed notostraca division number of 10.5 thousand military armed forces of the Russian Federation.
